Project of Description:
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) was planning to undertake a project for setting up the Export Processing Zones at Sirajgonj and Saidpur in North Bengal. The proposed site at Sirajgonj is located about179km from the capital city Dhaka along Dhaka-Bogra Highway and 5km from Jamuna Bridge (JMB). Another site at Saidpur is located about 400km from the capital city along Dhaka-Dinajpur Highway and 10km off on the Northern side of Saidpur Town under Nilphamary District. The project includes feasibility studies, preparation of master-plan, detailed topographic survey, economic evaluation of the project, EIA, SIA, preliminary cost estimation. The objective of the project was to encourage investment in Bangladesh as well as development of investment environment in the country. The project will also help developing the socio-economic status of the people of the North Bengal.
Services Provided:
Feasibility study to prepare masterplan, area development plan, and preliminary structural plan for setting up the EPZ. Site selection with detailed evaluation of different alternatives. Developments of land acquisition plan, resettlement action plan and help authority in land acquisition and dispute settlement. Data Collection relating to Topographic, Contour and plane table survey.investment opportunity, market projection etc. Economic evaluation: Economic Analysis, Socio-economic condition of the zone of influence and Environmental Impact Assessment and recommendation for mitigation measures to lessen the adverse impacts. Study of land acquisition and resettlement plan. Study of hydrological and drainage facilities. Study of climatology, geology, seismicity and geotechnical consideration. Study of land development, landscaping, and road development. Study of relocation/ shifting/ installation of utility services. Preliminary design and drawings of the infrastructures. Preliminary cost estimate of the project.
