Description of the Project:
The study aims to assess water pollution sources and meteorological data in Greater Dhaka and evaluate their impacts on urban drainage performance to develop sustainable mitigation measures. It includes water quality sampling, pollution inventory development (PS & NPS), and analysis of pollution loads and treatment options. The project also updates infiltration and drainage databases to assess system capacity, evaluates wastewater impacts on storm drainage, and identifies illegal drain connections in key catchments such as Pagla, Mirpur, and Uttara with appropriate management strategies.
Services Provided:
The services include the preparation of accurate drainage basin maps using GIS-based analysis of the study area, incorporating existing conditions and future urban growth projections up to the year 2040. Existing land use mapping will be developed and updated to reflect future land use scenarios for effective drainage planning. Contour mapping along primary, secondary, and tertiary drainage networks will be prepared to support hydraulic and topographic analysis. Basin-wise flow diagrams will be developed, indicating discharge rates for both existing and proposed drainage systems.
In addition, maps will be prepared to identify the locations and quality of major wastewater lines and channels contributing to the drainage system under the Drainage Master Plan. Comprehensive GIS layers, including imagery, DEM, and DTM, will be developed and integrated with a centralized database. A complete geospatial database of all collected, processed, analyzed, and modeled data will be established, along with a detailed GIS-based inventory of the drainage system containing all relevant technical information.
