Project of Description:

The existing      port area is served by few other private jetties      and other marine installations. The river    is maintained       through     bi-annual       dredging       to     a     depth     of     4.3       m     at     low     water. During      the monsoon        the      depth        is        closer        to      9.1 m.    Presently          the      jetty serves        numbers        of        vessels from Chattogram      Port and India directly.      The        waterways connecting    Khanpur    with        the        ports of Chattogram    and    Mongla    are    of Class-I,      which implies        that they    are    maintained        to    a depth    of 3.7m    throughout    the year. Because    of shoals      and    narrow    bends at certain    points,      the size of ships that would    be able to access    the jetty    is restricted    to those    vessels    having    on overall length    of 70m, breadth    14m    and draft of

3.4m. The      existing         berth         is         made         of      two         reinforced           concrete         pilled structures.          At        present, the Khanpur    Jetty    itself      serves    40    to    50    vessels    from India

each    year and    additional         10      to    15 vessels      from Chattogram.         These    vessels    carry

an    average    of    500 tons of    grain,       steel,    coils    and other    general    goods.    Ships unload using their own gear or a mobile six tones cranes provided by BIWTA.

Services Provided:

The consultancy service under this Terms of Reference (TOR) is to assist BIWTA to manage and support services on the    Establishment         of    Inland      Container         and    Bulk    Terminal      at    Khanpur, Narayangonj including        all permanent      infrastructures        and technical      facilities      etc.,      in an efficient, cost-effective and timely manner to meet the Project Objective.

The main       objectives         of the Consultancy       Services       to prepare the Detailed         Master Plan with         3D  View         and  Animation,            Topography  Survey,  Soil  Test,  Detailed         Architectural, Structural,      Equipment &    Utilities        Design,      Drawing,      Cost    Estimation      and    Construction Supervision.

The Scope of Services is to offer the required consulting services in TWO phases:

PHASE  I:  Feasibility  Study and  Preliminary  Design, Detailed Design, 3D perspectives, Animation, Cost Estimation and Preparation of Tender Documents and PHASE II: Construction Supervision.
